Blade

BLADE Pulled… Again

Has there been a modern movie more cursed than Marvel’s new Blade adaption? The character was first introduced into the MCU in the form of a disembodied voice during a credits stinger in Eternals way back in 2021. Since then the movie has been through countless directors, several re-writes, and more release date changes than we can keep track of.

Well, it is happening again. When the latest director Yann Demange exited the project it always seemed unlikely to make the latest release date of November 7th 2025. Eric Pearson is still reportedly at work on the film’s script and it is not finished.

Marvel has confirmed this now, and Blade is moving out indefinitely. It has been pushed by a blizzard of Disney projects being reshuffled.

Disney’s Predator sequel, the follow-up to Prey, will instead take the slot with Predator: Badlands having the date. The Elle Fanning-led film, again directed by Dan Trachtenberg, is now rumored to be set in the future.

Marvel’s 2025 slate is now set as being Captain America: Brave New World in February, Thunderbolts on May 5th, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps on November 10th.

2026 and 2027 both have Marvel slots reserved for the new Avengers outings. Meanwhile, Spider-Man 4 has been confirmed as shooting next year for a 2026 release.

Blade, if it ever arrives, will now be a 2026 release at the absolute earliest. A new Blade movie was discussed as far back as 2013, and was first officially announced as part of the MCU in 2021.
