As I have said before, horror is just churned out these days, but now and then something comes along that actually looks pretty good. The Changeling, from Apple TV is such a thing. Here is the trailer.

The Changeling will be an 8-part series, based on the book of the same name, by Victor LaValle. In this new version, the story is described as a “fairy tale for adults” or, as the official synopsis states:

…a horror story, a parental fable and perilous odyssey through New York City you didn’t know existed.

The series will star LaKeith Stanfield, Clark Backo, Adina Porter, Samuel T. Herring, Alexis Louder, Jared Abrahamson, and Malcolm Barrett. The show has been written by showrunner and executive producer, Kelly Marcel. Marcel has a mixed background, Saving Mr Banks was great, however, Venom, Fifty Shades of Grey, and Cruella, were not.

At first, I thought this was a remake of the George C Scott classic from 1980. It’s got nothing to do with it. The 1980s version is great, a genuinely good horror movie, but a very different story. It’s worth checking out.

The Changeling show will be debuting three episodes on 8th September, then a new episode every Friday after that. I might give it a try.
