A trailer for the new Beetlejuice sequel should be online soon, but in the meantime, some images have appeared. They show Michael Keaton back as Beetlejuice and Winona Ryder reprising her role as Lydia Deetz. The images are from Entertainment Weekly, who has been calling the movie Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. I’m going to be sick of typing that name by the end of this article.

Beetlejuice

The original movie came out in 1988 and still holds fond memories for most. Keaton’s take on the character was great fun and there are some great moments in it. You can genuinely hear this picture.

Beetlejuice

…everyone, sing along!

Production of a sequel had been in limbo for decades. Several writers were offered the chance to write over the years, but nothing really happened. It was reported that Kevin Smith turned down the chance to write it, so thank goodness for that.

Alfred Gough and Miles Miller, co-creators of Wednesday which was produced and directed by Burton, finally got a script finished. The story is still very much under wraps, but one of the previous sequel attempts was titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian.

Joining Keaton and Ryder are Willem Dafoe, Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci and everyone’s favorite wooden actress, Jenna Ortega. There are no reports so far confirming which role Tim Burton’s ex-wife will be playing.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be in theatres on the 6th of September. We’ll post the trailer when that appears online.
