Disney long ago surrendered real imaginative creativity in pursuit of profit. Then it turned out to not be so good at that recently.
So it is retreating to its bad old days, when Lady And The Tramp sequels made their way direct to video. Fire up the sequel-o-tron! We are back to those times.
As part of its earnings call yesterday, Disney Pictures talked through their upcoming release schedule and… well… there is a theme. See if you can pick it out.
This year there is Inside Out 2 on June 14th and Moana 2 on November 27th.
2025 gives us Zootopia 2 at Thanksgiving. 2026 is where they will really shake their moneymaker for dollar bills.
Frozen 3, Toy Story 5 and the Star Wars: The Mandalorian & Grogu will all be heading into movie theaters.
And there was much rejoicing. Oh… hang on…
The second of two Star Wars movies currently locked in will follow in December 2027. This will be the Daisy Ridley led New Jedi Order movie.
