Gladiator 2 will be called “Gladiator II”. No subtitles like The Return of Maximus, The Revenge of Biggus Dickus or Maximus Overdrive. Just II, which is Roman for 2, which is pretty clever.
It’s CineimaCon 2024 very soon, but things are being set up ready for the event, including this statue and shield of Gladiator II.
When is the 22nd month? Oh wait, that’s just silly Americans writing the date in the wrong order. The shield has the words:
What we do in life echoes in eternity
The movie has an impressive cast so far Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nelson, Joseph Quinn, Matt Lucas, Derek Jacobi and Peter Mensah to name a few. Ridley Scott is back in the director’s chair, with the script penned by David Scarpa.
It looks like a lot of the original cast is back, apart from Maximus himself, Russell Crowe. I’m sure there was a rumour going around about a sequel seeing Maximus in the afterlife, being resurrected as some form of immortal god and fighting in WWII.
Gladiator II will follow the story of Lucius (Mescal), Maximus’ son. Now a full-grown man, he was impressed after his father’s death but aspires to be a formidable warrior, like his old man. If you want to be like your old man, you’d better start eating now kid.

Gladiator II will be in cinemas on the 22nd Nov, not the 11th Stupidober.
