15 years ago, Liam Neeson had a smash hit with Taken. This gave his career a shot in the arm and he suddenly became an action star. He has another of action movie coming out, Retribution, here is the trailer.
So Speed in a minivan? The story for Retribution is:
A bank executive receives a bomb threat while driving his children to school that his car will explode if they stop and get out.
It is actually a remake of the 2015 Spanish film El Desconocido. (The Stranger).
The movie stars Neeson, Jack Champion, Embeth Davidtz, Arian Moayed, Noma Dumezweni, Matthew Modine, Emily Kusche and Jerry Kwarteng. Nimród Antal is directing, with Andrew Baldwin, Alberto Marini, Ward Parry, and Christopher Salmanpour serving as writers.
This new movie looks like another churned-out action flick, which seems to be Neeson’s MO now. He’s made more than half a dozen movies exactly like this in the past 15 years. I didn’t even bother with the last few of them. Weirdly, he is also cast for Ice Road 2: Road to Sky, a sequel to the 2021 movie, Ice Road. I think I have seen it, but all I can remember is there were trucks on ice roads. Someone somewhere thought it needed a sequel.

One thing that Neeson does have up his sleeve is a remake of Naked Gun, where he will be playing Lt Frank Drebin. The movie will be a sequel to Naked Gun 33 1/3 and Neeson might be the perfect casting for the deadpan, slapstick comedy.
In the meantime, Retribution will be out on 25th Aug.
