The Exorcist is generally regarded as the greatest horror movie of all time. Perfect in tone, with practical effects, a great story, and overall genuine horror, why would you sully its reputation? Because Hollywood couldn’t produce anything new if its life depended on it, that’s why.

Sequels to the original Exorcist came out, but they weren’t great. Although The Exorcist 3 is remembered with some affection. There was a reboot TV series in 2020, did anyone watch it? The Exorcist: Believer is the first of a new trilogy in a reimagining of the series, and brings back some of the original cast. Here is the new trailer.

Personally, this looks like another bog-standard horror, with the same old tropes as every other horror out there. The only thing about it is that they are riding on the coattails of the original movie.

The other bad news is it is being directed by David Gordon Green. He’s the man who just gave us the latest of the Halloween series. The new trilogy got progressively worse as they went on, eventually becoming laughably bad. Halloween Ends was hilarious for all of the wrong reasons. He is also working on a TV series for Hellraiser, another franchise that we used to hold with fondness in our memories.

A sequel to this movie, called The Exorcist: Deciever, has already been slated for April 2025. I’m guessing this one will make money since the public will swallow anything given to them these days, and each one of this new trilogy will be hailed as the ‘greatest horror movie of all time’. I hope I’m wrong, but I’m also pessimistic.

The Exorcist: Believer will be out on 13th of October 2023.

On a side note. We saw that this trailer was put in the comments of another movie and yes, we were going to post about it. If you would like to help us write up articles, please reach out to us.
