Shazam: Fury of the Gods didn’t do that well at the box office and the critics didn’t like it. According to the star, Zachary Levi, it’s because Hollywood’s content is garbage.

There is a video of him talking to an audience at Comic-Con Manchester in the UK. He has gotten in trouble for the video, as he started talking about up-and-coming movies he is working on. According to the current SAG-AFTRA strike, members of the union are not permitted to promote their movies or shows.

He went on to say that the promotion stipulation was “so dumb” as he wanted to share it with his fans. Levi has got into more trouble with his comments at a Chicago Fan Expo this weekend. Entertainment Weekly reported that Levi started criticizing Hollywood Studios for putting out garbage. He said:

“I personally feel like the amount of content that comes out of Hollywood that is garbage – they don’t care enough to actually make it great for you guys. They don’t.”

This was welcomed with applause from the audience. He continued:

“How many times do you watch a trailer and go, ‘Oh my god, this looks so cool!’ Then you go to the movie and it’s like, ‘This was what I get?’ They know that once you’ve already bought the ticket and you’re in the seat, they’ve got your money. And the only way for us to change any of it is to not go to the garbage. We have to actively not choose the garbage. It’ll help. It’ll help a lot.”

Levy

Levi has been outspoken before. He has been vocal about Shazam: Fury of the Gods and the critic’s reception of the movie. He said it wasn’t an “Orwellian masterpiece, but it was a darn good movie”. I have to agree to a point, the movie was stupid, but kind of fun.

Levi’s comments about Hollywood, though, I think we can all agree on. Indiana Jones: The Dial of Destiny made less money than Solo: A Star Wars Story, the worst-performing Star Wars movie ever. And that’s just one example, it really is like Hollywood doesn’t care about us.
