Peacemaker

PEACEMAKER Season 2 Has New Dance?

James Gunn’s Peacemaker was an odd show, deliberately. It was weirdly enjoyable, darkly comic, and engaging in unexpected ways. Following on from Gunn’s own The Suicide Squad movie, it was one bright spot in the death throes of the old DCEU.

Somehow, John Cena’s Peacemaker will return as part of the new DCU, and we will find out how with a second season.

One thing that took first-time viewers of the original show by surprise was that the opening titles featured an opening dance routine featuring the entire cast, set to Do Ya Wanna Taste It by Wig Wam. It was… well… see for yourself:

Gunn has already confirmed that something new will be coming for the opening title sequence of the new season. In a recent interview with Collider, they attempted to get John Cena to reveal more but he was keeping the details quiet.

He did say that they all had their doubts about the sequence when they shot it for the first season, but fan reaction makes them even more excited to share the title sequence this time:

“I will say, filming the dance number in Season 1, even though it was written in the script the whole way through, so I knew months out we were going to film it, you still kind of scratch your head, like, ‘Is this going to work?’

Then, when it became such a part of the show, I think everybody this time was just so excited, and I really think that’s going to show. I’m very happy with it. I want to say so much more, but I’ll just say I’m very happy with it. Everyone was super enthused and also understood how important it is this time around, and I really hope that shows. I know the show is great. In my mind, the opening number is great. I hope the world agrees.

The eight-episode second season of Peacemaker arrives on Max in August this year, just in time to link into the new DCU with Superman dropping the month before in theaters.
