Anderson For HOUSE OF THE DEAD Movie

Director Paul W. S. Anderson is one of those directors who makes cheesy movies, but they are fun. Event Horizon was a great sci-fi horror that still stands up today.

Anderson has also made his fair share of video-game-to-movie adaptations; Monster Hunter, Mortal Kombat and four of the Resident Evil movies. There is also Alien vs Predator, but he made the movie before the video game came out. Just to be ‘that guy’.

It looks like Anderson is now working on a House of the Dead movie. He has said that he wants to make it “very, very scary”. So he’s casting Amy Schumer instead of Milla Jovovich?

In the original game of House of the Dead, you took on the role of government agents tasked with thwarting the conspiracies of organisations that threaten the world. The title of the game comes from the life expectancy of the people who work there.

Variety talked to Anderson about an update on the movie:

“The script is almost done. We’re aiming to shoot in the fourth quarter of this year. I’m really going to push the envelope on this one. It’s going to be something different for me.”

“It’s going to be immersive and very, very scary. It’ll all play out in real time, so it reflects the experience of playing the video game. The only time it stops is when you beat the game or you die. That’s going to be the only way out.”

Back in 2003, Uwe Boll directed a version of House of the Dead. Anyone? Hands up if you have seen it. Anyone? Even I haven’t seen it, although I kind of want to now. It even had a sequel in 2005.

I’m guessing Anderson’s version will get more publicity. And, I’m going out on a limb here, but I’m betting Jovovich will be in it.
