So many emotions are going on with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny. On the one hand, Indy should have ended up riding off into the sunset at Petra. On the other hand, it’s James Mangold, who is a highly competent director. On the other hand, Kathleen Kennedy is heavily involved. On the fourth hand, did the rumors going around the internet actually save the movie? June is going to be interesting.
We still have to wait to see Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, if you are going to see it at all. I know I will have to watch it because I’m a completionist and I hate myself at the same time. There is a new clip online, showing some of the action.
I’m going to say, this doesn’t look good. It feels very “green screen” and the whole trope of driving through a busy street while having a conversation seems to have been done better elsewhere. As we know, Harrison Ford is in his 80s now, so it’s not like they can have him jumping around doing some of his own stunts so, of course, there’s going to be a lot of green screen.
According to reports, Steve Spielberg, the creator of Indiana Jones, has seen the movie:
“I just had that experience two nights ago. Bob Iger had a screening for a lot of the Disney executives, and I came to the screening along with the director James Mangold. Everybody loved the movie. It’s really, really a good ‘Indiana Jones’ film. I’m really proud of what Jim has done with it.”
“When the lights came up I just turned to the group and said, ‘Damn! I thought I was the only one who knew how to make one of these.“
Well Steve, you did make Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, are you comparing Dial of Destiny to that? Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is out on 30th June, only time will tell if it’s a “really, really good Indiana Jones movie”.
