Do you know what triggers me? Celebrities making a joke! Jokes are not funny, life is not funny, movies are not funny, nothing is funny! If you laugh at anything, you’re a racist, *insert word here*-phobe, male chauvinistic woman hater.
The truth is, anything can be funny. I’m not going to dig myself a hole here, but you can find humour in anything. It can be tasteful and it can make you think about certain subjects. See episodes of South Park for example.
Another truth is people today are snowflakes. You cannot seem to make a joke about anything at all, as it’s offensive, and it’ll trigger certain people. Before you know it, everyone is screaming ‘cancel’.
A video has resurfaced, from 10-years-ago, of Blake Lively making a simple joke. She was being interviewed for Vogue and was hit with some quick-fire questions. One of them was “Which movie laughed the hardest through?”, her reply:
“Shawshank Redemption”
This made me giggle. For anyone, with the tiniest brain, knows that Shawshank isn’t a ‘fun’ movie, it’s very hard-hitting and upsetting. Saying was a movie that made her laugh was a joke, obviously.
This is no joke!
This clip has resurfaced as Lively got into trouble during another recent interview. She is starring in a movie called It Ends With Us. The movie deals with the theme of domestic and emotional abuse.
During this recent interview, she was asked what people could do if they approached her and wanted to talk about the themes. She sarcastically responded:
“Ask for my address or my phone number. Or I could just share my location with you and then we could…”
She tailed off and laughed. This has angered a lot of people on social media. Shocker. People have been saying that she shouldn’t have been so light-hearted during an interview about such a serious subject.
Everyone’s Upset
Some of the comments online, about Lively’s new interview, and the ‘Shawshank’ incident, have been, well, what you might expect.
“I think she was trying to answer like Ryan Reynolds but missed completely.”
“It just gets worse and worse AND worse.”
“I don’t think Blake and I saw the same Shawshank Redemption.”
“The Shawshank Redemption? I cried watching it.”
“She’s the kind of person where she’s always kidding so there’s no real answer given and so you’re just sitting there like… sooo wait what is it actually.”
Can you imagine what these people are like in real life? You’d be walking on eggshells all day hoping you don’t make a comment that will trigger you and end up in jail!
Personally, this makes me like Lively more. I need a woman with a sense of humour…she’s going to need it the first time she sees me naked.
