Bob Gale Says ‘F*** You!’ To BACK THE FUTURE 4

How many trilogies have been ruined by carrying on when they should have stopped? Fortunately, Back to the Future isn’t going to be one of them, for now at least, not while Bob Gale is still alive.

Think about it, Indiana Jones, The Matrix, Terminator, Toy Story, Men in Black, Thor, Lethal Weapon, all great trilogies. Then a fourth, or more, movie came out and just flogged that dead horse.

Back to the Future is the same. It’s a perfect trilogy, that ends perfectly. There is no need for a fourth one, there is no need to carry on the story, just let it be. Well, some people just can’t let it be. Lots still ask about Back to the Future 4.

In a recent interview, Bob Gale, the original producer, had something for people asking about a fourth movie:

“‘F** you, you quote me on that!”

Gale understands what Back to the Future is, a great trilogy. There is no need to drag it out, just leave it as it is. When the subject came up, this is the full version of what Gale said:

“I’m having the best third act of life that anybody could imagine. People always say, well, ‘When are you guys going to do Back to the Future 4? And we say, ‘F*ck you,’ you quote me on that!”

Gale isn’t finished with Back to the Future though. We reported a little while ago that the musical is being taken around the world. It’s not a sequel, prequel, or reboot… well, it’s a reboot with music. He’s really pleased with the new musical:

“We made three terrific movies and people kept asking for more Back to the Future. So we made Back to the Future: The Musical…We’re taking it around the world. So, my God, Back to the Future, I’m going to be doing it for the rest of my life. Who could ask for anything more?”

No matter how much talk there might have been about Back to the Future 4 and “if the right script came along” they might do it. I can’t see Gale having anything to do with it.
