Many will try and deny plans for season 2 of The Acolyte even existed. They will claim it was always supposed to be “one and done”. This is not true. Showrunner Headland herself was proudly proclaiming her pitch for a second season just weeks ago.
Remember, this is the show that Bob Iger was reportedly furious at Lucasfilm for proceeding with against his advice. Well, now it is dead. It is done. It is an ex-show.
According to a report at Deadline, Lucasfilm has cancelled The Acolyte. They have decided a second season will not happen.
Why? Let us count the ways.
It was a textbook example of everything rotten at Lucasfilm. An agenda-pushing, canon-destroying, low-quality effort. Yet when people called it out, they reacted in their customarily hysterical fashion.
The cat-lady shrieking reached comical proportions this time around when they accused online outlets of actual violence for using hurty words against their show, and called for them to be banned.
Well, it’s dead now, so shut up and fuck off.
They proclaimed the biggest series premiere on Disney+ this year, but viewership collapsed completely and it fell out of the top ten and ended up with the lowest minutes viewed for any Star Wars show.
