SUPER/MAN: THE CHRISTOPHER REEVE STORY Trailer

Warner Bros. Pictures has premiered the official trailer for the documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.

According to the blurb, the story of Christopher Reeve is an astonishing rise from an unknown actor to an iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today.

Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down.

After becoming a quadriplegic, Reeve became an activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care – all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his family.

The film will follow his rise to superstardom as Superman, and continue his story through his horse riding accident, and subsequent work on spinal injuries.

Ian Bonhote and Peter Ettedgui, who directed 2018’s McQueen, directed the project with the cooperation of the Reeve family.

The movie premiered at Sundance in January to very strong reviews. Warner Bros. had people in the audience, and they immediately moved to pick it up and set up a one-off theatrical release for the film on 21st September in collaboration with Fathom Events. You can get details here.

A second one-off is planned for September 25th, Christopher Reeve’s birthday.
