Most of the indie news we get sent is from production companies, but now then we get news directly from the directors themselves. Recently, we were sent an email from an indie director, writer, and producer, about her new movie, I Want to Live On Mars. Here is the trailer.
The movie stars Claire Haller, Mark Solari, Better Stolar, Tatyana Kot, Martin Nikolov, Jenna You and Alexander Abe. Mariya Somova is the writer and director. The story is:
Two unlikely friends embark on a journey to escape life in a ghost town devastated by disaster.
Most of the following is from the director: The movie was inspired by Centralia, a ghost town in Pennsylvania. Its current population is 5 residents due to a coal mine fire that is still burning. It is an homage to what it’s like being a teenage girl, and living in the middle of nowhere.
As a filmmaker, I really wanted to explore the aspect of loneliness and emptiness in the human heart, as well as the people, and the environment in which these individuals immerse themselves. Are they going to try and break away from that, or will they let themselves sink into the abyss?
I Want to Live on Mars is available on Amazon Prime. I was also sent links to the movie’s social media:
I’m so glad the Last Movie Outpost has been bigging up indie movies. We’ve said this a thousand times, but modern Hollywood is just a machine, churning out the same old same old most of the time.
When you see a trailer for I Want to Live on Mars, OK, it doesn’t have the huge Hollywood budgets, but it has more passion. I’m going to put it on my watchlist.
