Robbie To 50 FOOT WOMAN

No, Quentin, it is not a movie about a woman with 50 feet. Calm down! It is a remake of the classic B-movie schlock Attack Of The 50 Foot Woman.

The original movie starred Allison Hayes as a wealthy heiress who has an encounter with an alien that triggers her to grow into the titular giant. It was a 1958 independently made American science fiction horror film directed by Nathan H. Juran, credited as Nathan Hertz.

Her giant size makes things even more complicated for her troubled marriage and her cheating husband.

Now, according to a report on The InSneider, Margot Robbie is reportedly set to both star in and produce a remake.

The first draft of the script has been written by Emmy-winning Gone Girl writer Gillian Flynn. The movie was first floated in early 2024 when Tim Burton was in talks to direct, but he appeared to no longer be connected after he said his slate was clear.

The new report says that Burton is still involved, and the project is at Warner Bros. Pictures with Robbie’s LuckyChap as production house.

With its low budget of around $88,000, the original Attack of the 50 Foot Woman was planned to get a sequel after it made decent profits. That movie never materialised.

In the mid-1980s, Jim Wynorski considered doing a remake with Sybil Danning in the title role and made it as far as shooting a photo session with Danning dressed as the 50-foot woman. That project also never moved forward.

The film was eventually remade in 1993 by HBO under the same title Attack of the 50 Ft. Woman, directed by Christopher Guest, with a script by Thirtysomething writer Joseph Dougherty. Daryl Hannah produced the film and starred in the title role.
