LORD OF THE RINGS Extended Editions To Theaters

Getting old is boring, dull, and everything aches. On top of that, you get to see movies you loved destroyed by modern Hollywood. However, now and then, something good happens, like being old enough to see The Lord of the Rings Extended Edition hit the theaters. The fact that it’s for the 25th anniversary is beside the point.

I know not everyone is a fan of The Lord of the Rings, but you can’t deny the cultural impact it has had. Peter Jackson did an amazing job at bringing J.R.R. Tolkien’s books to the big screen.

Variety reported that all three of The Lord of the Rings trilogy will be in the cinemas to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release of The Fellowship of the Ring. There will be a D-BOX format release from the 16th to the 19th of Jan, and then standard formats from the 23rd to the 25th Jan.

I had to look up what D-BOX was; it’s basically 4D. As I’ve said before, I don’t even have an IMAX near me, so D-Box is new to me. At our local cinema, the old lady who played the piano alongside the movies recently passed away. Star Wars without the accompanying piano just isn’t the same.

The Lord of the Rings release will be getting some limited edition concessions. At AMC theatres, you can get a collectable map tin complete with a quest magnet set. At Regal and some independent theatres, they will be offering a Lord of the Rings ‘One Ring’ tin.

The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions will run for 11 hours, over three days, with one movie per day. Are you excited?

Misquotes

While looking this up, I found a big movie outlet that opened this story with a misquote from The Lord of the Rings. It’s a quote that a lot of people get wrong.

When Gandalf stops the Balrog on the bridge, it falls and then whips his leg. Gandalf says:

Fly, you fools!

Not:

Run, you fools!
