Either they are deliberately trolling the fans, or the curse of the modern marketing department strikes again. Paramount+ has released a poster for Star Trek: Starfleet Academy and… well, see for yourself:

Who exactly is this show going to be aimed at? Who was looking at Star Trek and thinking:
“You know what, we should probably give this whole thing a Dawson’s Creek polish!”?
What was the pitch? Star Trek 90210? I bet there is a coffee shop in this new Academy. A show about explorers in quasi-military vessels overcoming odds by being the smartest guys in the quadrant and working together as a team just never occurs to them? There is also a five-minute clip, God help us:
Oh great, there are funny robots! Just what Star Trek always needed.
No wonder they all seem a little embarrassed about Picard season 3. Some guy just wandered in, showed them all how it was done without breaking a sweat, and then f*cked off again.
This series is set in the 32nd century – the Star Trek: Discovery era, because everyone was just yelling out for more of that – and follows cadets as they train at the new Starfleet Academy. Sandro Rosta, Karim Diané, Kerrice Brooks, George Hawkins, Bella Shepard, and Zoë Steiner play the students, with Holly Hunter, Paul Giamatti, Tig Notaro, Robert Picardo, Oded Fehr, and Stephen Colbert as their adult guides or antagonists.
Alex Kurtzman and Noga Landau serve as co-showrunners. A second season is already being filmed.
