After Heads Of State, I am willing to give Amazon the benefit of the doubt when it comes to action-comedy-buddy movies. Heads Of State was a surprising delight, in a “Don’t think, don’t analyze, just watch” entertainment space that has been sorely lacking recently. It’s like somebody somewhere in Hollywood had a meeting and said, “What if we just made something entertaining?” and somehow it slipped through. Could The Wrecking Crew repeat that feat?
Now, Amazon MGM Studios has premiered the new trailer for their next attempt in this space, The Wrecking Crew.
The Wrecking Crew follows Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa, and two brothers, James and Jonny, who must reunite after their father’s mysterious death. Trying to learn the truth about his death, buried secrets resurface, and loyalties are tested, unveiling a conspiracy that can tear their family apart.
Together, they are ready to wreck anything on the streets of Hawaii that gets in their way as they search for answers.
Claes Bang, Jacob Batalon, Stephen Root, and Morena Baccarin also star. Ángel Manuel Soto (Blue Beetle) directs. Jonathan Tropper wrote the script.
Jeff Fierson, Momoa, Bautista, Matt Reeves, and Lynn Harris produce.
The Wrecking Crew arrives on Amazon Prime Video on January 28th, proving streaming really is the kind of place where the things we would have rented the hell out of on VHS back in the day all live now.
