ANACONDA Final Trailer

One of the best features of 1997’s Anaconda, other than the quizzical look Ice Cube has on his face throughout the entire movie, is the fact that the ridiculous dose of camp plays it completely straight, and all of the actors seem as if they are not at all in on the joke. It really is a wonder to behold.

So a meta remake is going to be all or nothing. It is either going tobe absolutely brilliant, or completely terrible. There can be no middle ground.

Anaconda

We will get a better look at which way it may go right now, as Sony Pictures has premiered the full and final trailer for the Jack Black and Paul Rudd-led remake / reboot / revisit / re-whatever.

Black and Rudd star as Doug and Griff, two lifelong friends who have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favorite movie, that 1997 cult classic Anaconda.

The pair decides to do it, going to South America to shoot the film indie style with a rag-tag group of friends. Shit gets real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly survival situation. Ice Cube then arrives, as himself.

The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed.

Anaconda co-stars Selton Mello as Santiago Braga, Daniela Melchior as Ana Almeida, Thandiwe Newton as Claire Simons, Steve Zahn as Kenny Trent, and Ione Skye as Malie McCallister.

Tom Gormican (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kevin Etten, while Brad Fuller and Andrew Form produce.

Anaconda is in cinemas on Christmas Day. Imagine having to work on Christmas Day in a movie theater?
