Another AMERICAN PSYCHO

American Psycho is one of those perfect movies. Seeing Christian Bale chasing a hooker down a hotel corridor with nothing but a chainsaw and a pair of sneakers is peak cinema.

Apparently though, the original movie from 2000 was not the best adaptation of the original book of the same name. A new version of the movie is on the way, but not a remake of the original movie. It will be a new adaptation of the novel.

So, who has been cast as the new Patrick Bateman? According to Variety, it will be Austin Bulter. Butler is a bit of a golden boy at the moment, his recent movies include; Elvis, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood and Dune: Part Two.

Interestingly, the casting was looking at Butler or Jacob Elordi as the new Bateman. Both actors have played Elvis, Butler in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis and Elordi in Sofia Coppola’s Priscilla.

Who is directing this new American Psycho? Luca Guadagnino. It seems like he would like to focus more on the erotica side of the novel. That does sound interesting until you see Guadagnino’s other movies. He is known for Call Me By My Name, Bones and All and, most recently, Queer starring Daniel Craig. I’m seeing a theme here.

He also made the remake of Suspiria, which I couldn’t even finish. We recently had an Outpost reviewing some movies for Halloween and the original Suspiria came up. The original is an Italian horror classic. The remake was a pretentious load of dog’s testicles.

In fact, I’m going to say that most of Guadagnino’s work is a load of pretentious crap with undertones of gay. So, here’s looking forward to a reimagining of American Psycho.
