Well, it’s here, the trailer for Ballerina, the spin-off from the John Wick Universe.
The Ballerina stars Ana De Armas, Kenau Reves, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, Ian McShane, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Bryne, Togo Igawa, Abraham Popoola and, the late, Lance Reddick.
Len Wiseman is directing, with Shay Hatten writing, based on the characters created by Derek Kolstad. Wiseman is known for things like Underworld, Live Free Die Hard, Total Recall (2012) and episodes of Sleepy Hollow, Lucifer and Swamp Thing.
Hatten served as a writer on John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum and John Wick: Chapter 4. OK, that’s good news. No, wait, he’s also the writer for Army of the Dead, Army of Thieves and Rebel Moon: Part One and Two.
Interesting to see Reeves get a big billing in the credits. My guess would be that he is only in a cameo role, just to help the franchise along. The story for Ballerina is:
A young female assassin seeks revenge against the people who killed her family.
No mention of a dog anywhere. Maybe they killed her cat? Women like cats, like that lady from The Simpsons.
The Ballerina isn’t due out until 6th June 2025. Just enough time for me to get in shape for my tutu.
