Bruce Campbell Reveals He Has Cancer

There are a few people in Hollywood for whom you can use the term ‘legend’, Bruce Campbell is one of them. He shot to fame in Evil Dead, and created Ash, one of the greatest characters of all time.

Sadly, Campbell has just announced he has been diagnosed with cancer. Even sadder news is that the cancer is “treatable, but not curable”. He posted the following message on social media.

He has said that he would keep the details private, but his schedule cannot carry on as planned. He has had to cancel several convention appearances and other shows. Campbell is also serving as a producer on the newest instalment of Evil Dead; Evil Dead Burn.

The treatment is going to take his toll, but he is “a tough son of a bitch”.

He has a new movie out, Ernie & Emma, which he wrote and directed. The story is:

Widowed pear salesman Ernie Tyler travels to scatter his wife’s ashes in places she specified, each location stirring memories that help him process their marriage, his work life, and his future.

The trailer looks great for Ernie & Eric.

I don’t know how this slipped through the net, but you can bet a review is on the way. This, sadly, might be his last outing as an actor, and it seems that the cancer isn’t going anywhere.

Check Yourself

Cancer affects a lot of people; in fact, everyone will know someone who’s had it. It doesn’t discriminate or care about your social background; anyone can get it. My dad died of lung cancer (although it was all over his body) at just 53.

When you read about Campbell and what a shock it was to him to find it, it’s always worth checking yourself out and making sure you keep an eye on things. If it’s caught early enough, cancer can be treated and cured.

Doing a quick search, there are ways to screen yourself for cancer. The American Cancer Society has some interesting information that’s worth reading.

Reading that Campbell has cancer, and it looks like he’s not going to get better from it, I think I speak for everyone when I say:

Fuck cancer!
