The WWE is one of those uniquely American things that everyone else on the planet looks at and thinks “WTF?”. Superheroes were also invented in America because, as a young country, it didn’t have any deep-rooted myths and legends. No Robin Hood or Beowulf. So Superman and Captain America sprang into life. So, thinking about it, maybe you can see Nicolas Cage’s point of view here?
Nic Cage is a comics guy, through and through. He has played Ghost Rider, an alternate version Spider-Man, and came within a whisker of being Superman. He took his stage name Cage from the character of Luke Cage, and he named one of his kids Kal-El. He’s a comics guy.
He is, somehow, still not part of the MCU. Come on guys? About time you found a nice juicy villain role for him as you did with Robert Redford?

Appearing at a panel at Fan Expo Dallas earlier this month, some comments he made at the event have just started spreading online.
He said the sheer mass of characters and long fight sequences in movies like the Avengers films remind him of TV wrestling:
“I do say this with love. When I see these 50+, otherwise intelligent, remarkably gifted thespians putting on these ridiculous outfits and getting ready for the fight, let’s face it, cutting all to the fight, it’s hard for me not to be reminded that the MCU is becoming a well-funded and glorified WWE.”
I am not sure there is anywhere near the level of substances in the MCU as there were in the WWE in it’s heydey.
