Man, oh man! Has this been a long time coming! Falcon and The Winter Soldier was one of the earliest Marvel TV shows on Disney+ and it was all supposed to lead to this. Captain America: Brave New World.
However, the road to the big screen has not been easy. Rewrites and extensive reshoots have been talked about. Plus there were delays from strikes. The actual release date is still months away.
Marvel Studios has gone big, and gone early. They have dropped the teaser trailer and a first poster the fourth film in the Captain America series, and the first to see Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson taking over the mantle officially from Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. We first saw him in costume at the end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
This new instalment is directed by Julius Onah and is written by Onah alongside Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson. Captain America: Brave New World co-stars Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Shira Haas, Giancarlo Esposito, and Harrison Ford.
Esposito was a last-minute insertion, opening up what is rumored to be something big for the MCU. Ford takes over the role of Thunderbolt Ross from the late William Hurt in the film. Now US President, he will play a pivotal role in proceedings here and, as we know, his Red Hulk guise will come into play.
The Incredible Hulk stars Tim Blake Nelson and Liv Tyler will also be reprising their roles as Samuel Sterns/Leader and Betty Ross. This is now 16 years since that movie. Will Bruce Banner appear?
Captain America: Brave New World is released in cinemas on Valentine’s Day 2025.
