You may not know this, but comic book movies are based on comic books. For example, before Captain America was a movie, he was in a comic book. #TheMoreYouKnow
A recent discovery of some comic books, known as the Merrimack Valley Collection, contained an original Captain America issue no 1. By all accounts, it was stored in a cardboard box for nearly 80 years.
The first comic with Captain America, from 1941, introduced Steve Rogers, Bucky and the Red Skull. It famously had Cap punching Hitler in the face. You know, like Steve should have done when he went back in time at the end of Endgame.

The original comic has just sold at auction for $716,000.
Heritage, which originally produced the comic, was amazed at how well it had survived in a cardboard box. Aaron White, the vice president at Heritage, said:
“For an original-owner collection that spent the last 75 or 80 years in a cardboard box, the condition of the books was stunning.”
The Merrimack Valley Collection went on to make a staggering $8.4 million. Other bits of interest in the collection were the first appearance of Two-Face from Detective Comics No. 68, Joe Shuster’s cover for Action Comics No. 22 from 1940, and a mint copy of The Walking Dead from 2003.
Time to get in the attic and see if you have any rare comics of Captain America. I think my attic is full of copies of Razzle, which might be worth something again one day.
