CinemaCon is tagged as “the largest and most important gathering of movie theater owners from around the world” and it is currently underway at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. All I can remember about Caesar’s Palace was getting lost trying to find my way out after a very average trip to the Cheesecake Factory. Hopefully delegates managed to find their way to the Amazon MGM Studios presentation because there they got their first look at He-Man in live-action.
The studio presentation at CinemaCon included a first-look sizzle reel showing behind the scenes on the new Masters Of The Universe movie. The reports say it showed almost all of the cast in action at various points.
Reports also talk about the huge scale of the sets that are in use in London, where the movie has been shooting since January. Jared Leto’s Skeletor was briefly seen, but with the hood preventing a full face reveal.
Nicholas Galitzine’s He-Man was confirmed to have blonde hair, seen blowing in the wind in one shot, and a full battle costume.
Most importantly, the reports say it was colorful and seemed faithful to the 1980s style and design of the original cartoons and toys.
Travis Knight directs for Escape Artists and Mattel Films from a script by Chris Butler based on a story by Aaron Nee, Adam Nee, and Dave Callaham.
The rest of the cast includes Camila Mendes as Teela, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-At-Arms, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Fisto, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops.
Many plots have been rumored, but none are confirmed. Some set pics like the one above have leaked that seem to confirm a rumor that He-Man, as Prince Adam, ends up stranded on Earth for some of the movie.
Masters Of The Universe opens June 5th, 2026.
