CinemaCon Shows SUPERMAN Sequence

As CinemaCon is a gathering of movie theater owners, where studios essentially pimp their wares to exhibitors to get them excited, don’t expect to see much (or any) of this footage online yet, as the attendees have a vested interest in maintaining the cinema experience. That includes this footage from Superman. CinemaCon is locked down tighter than New Zealand under the Jacinda Ardern regime.

UPDATED – Footage now released online and linked in the Disqus below.

So we are afraid we will all just have to read about these reveals rather than see them ourselves just yet.

Director James Gunn and most of the cast were in attendance and they showed off a sneak peek. The sequence they shared is the continuation of the scene from the teaser where Superman has crashed to Earth and he summons Krypto for assistance.

The reports from the studio session say that they showed the rest of the sequence. In it, Krypto drags Superman to the Fortress of Solitude. There he is medically treated by robots and the sun to return him to full power.

Gunn confirmed they are now deep into post-production. During the Q&A, Lex Luthor actor Nicholas Hoult said seeing Corenswet filming in the suit affected everyone:

“I felt like I was witnessing the magic of cinema in first-person in real time.”

Hoult also referred to his previous auditions when asked about playing any other DC characters:

“Well I auditioned for Batman and Superman and I didn’t get either of them!”

It was also confirmed that a sneak peek of the film will premiere in front of IMAX copies of A Minecraft Movie this weekend.

Superman is released this July.
