Unless you’ve been living deep in the southern region of Arrakis for the past few months, you’ll know that Dune Part Two is out. It’s probably going to be one of the best movies of the year and Villeneuve has been talking about a third movie already. Could that make Dune one of the best trilogies of all time?
I’m building it up too much, but while it is doing so well in the cinema, there is also a game being released. Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival MMO, here is the trailer.
It does look like fun, the only thing is the MMO part. I don’t have any friends and playing with random strangers, is even worse. The game is by the makers of Conan: Exiles and is based on the original Frank Herbert’s books.
In Dune: Awakening, you land on Arrakis as The Sleeper. The game has you start with nothing but your wits and a knife. From there, you can build a guild, and craft your weapons and buildings, all while fighting off sandworms.
Players will battle to take control of spice production on the planet. I can’t see every player becoming the Kwisatz Haderach, so maybe you have to help him? All in all, the game does look like fun and it might be decent to go back to the old-school with some MMO.
What do you think? Is it something you’d play? The more I see it, the more I wouldn’t mind trying it. Here is a longer video, with the creative directors, about what to expect from Dune: Awakening.
No news yet on when, or where, you can play it.
