Denis Villeneuve’s franchise capping third Dune movie is the shortest one yet… just.
AMC listings have confirmed that Dune Part Three is 151 minutes long, that is 2hrs 31mins in old money.
The first was 155 minutes (2hrs 35mins), and the second was 166 minutes (2hrs 46mins).

Dune Messiah, the third novel, is the shortest book, with a page count around a third of the original novel. Villeneuve is expected to bring in some plot threads and characters from Children of Dune to definitively end the franchise with this movie.
The rumor is that Villeneuve will go further away from the source material in this outing, as the book is known to be exposition heavy and features lots of people plotting in corridors. Like The West Wing in space.
For movie purposes, expect it to be punched up a bit.
The movie kept Avengers: Doomsday out of IMAX theaters by being faster off the blocks booking screens. The IMAX seats are almost all sold out already for opening weekend.
It is tracking slightly ahead of where The Odyssey was this far out, which would be a big win for adult-orientated movies this year among a sea of superheroes.
Dune Part Three opens December 18th.
