Robert Eggers is 3 for 3 at the moment. The Witch, The Lighthouse and The Northman are all fantastic movies. We were all excited about hearing he was going to take on Nosferatu and now, the trailer is online.
Get this in my eyeballs right now. It’s got all of the style and substance that Eggers has displayed before. Hopefully, it will be another home run for him.
The new version of Nosferatu stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bill Skarsgard, Emma Corrin, Willem Dafoe, Nicholas Hoult, Ralph Ineson, Lily-Rose Depp and Simon McBurney. Eggers is the writer and director. The story is:
A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman, and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her causing untold horror in its wake.
Nosferatu is an unauthorized and unofficial adaptation of Bram Stoker’s original novel, Dracula. Many of the details were changed, including Dracula being renamed Count Orlock or Nosferatu, an archaic Romanian word meaning “the offensive one” or “the insufferable one”.
Interesting to see that Eggers has done the screenplay, he’s obviously put his own spin on it. The guy is a filmmaker, not just a movie maker.
Skarsgard, who’s playing Count Orlcok, said that Nosferatu himself was:
“…conjuring pure evil. It took a while for me to shake off the demon that had been conjured inside of me. … I do not think people are gonna recognize me in it.“
Nosferatu will be in cinemas on the 25th of December. Merry Christmas everyone!
