It is a good triple whammy for family movies right now, with Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Mufasa: The Lion King, and Moana 2 showing legs at the international box office to match their domestic performances.
Moana 2 has now become only the third release of 2024 to pass the $1 billion mark at the box office. The film is now at $442.8 million domestic with $567.1 million internationally.
Mufasa: The Lion King proves our Outposters right who said a slow start was not a hindrance. It is closing in on $600 million globally and remains anchored in the top three.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has passed $420 million globally.
One of Them Days from Sony will just pip Mufasa to the top spot with close to a $12 million opening.
The estimates for Wolf Man keep falling and it looks like it will just about break $10.5 million for the opening weekend. Den Of Thieves: Pantera drops from 1st place last week to 5th, with just over $6 million domestic.
Nosferatu, Wicked, A Complete Unknown, and Babygirl round out the top 10.
These next few weeks are a cinematic dead zone with absolutely nothing of note on the schedule.
