Feig Denies A SIMPLE FAVOR Rumors

Filmmaker Paul Feig has been forced to deny some online rumors about the sequel to his acclaimed dark comedy A Simple Favor. The rumor was that Amazon had delayed it indefinitely.

The source of the rumor appears to be online scooper EricB, and potentially the rumor could also be linked to the alleged disinformation and dirty tricks campaign against star Blake Lively. A lawsuit was previously filed in LA over claims that publicists Melissa Nathan and Jennifer Abel worked with It Ends With Us producers Jamey Heath and Steve Sarowitz to plant stories painting Lively in a negative light.

The scooper claims the delay is due to Lively’s “refusal to promote” the film. They also talk of “growing tensions” with co-star Anna Kendrick. These are all in the same wheelhouse as the accusations over It Ends With Us, which are alleged to have been linked to behavior on set by co-star and director Justin Baldoni.

Feig himself has come out swinging on X and says the rumor is completely false.:

“This is total BS. Sorry. The movie is finished and coming out soon. Don’t believe anything you read on social media these days.”

He gave more details when challenged by another poster:

“My friend, it’s called post production, which generally takes over half a year at least when you factor in editing, scoring, special effects, sound mixing, close captioning and all the technical quality control that has to be done.

Our post schedule always had us finishing everything by mid-January. Movies don’t come out the second they’re finished because the studio spends the previous year deciding the best date to release it. We’ve always planned on something in the spring/summer of this year. That’s how movies work. I hope this helps.”

The sequel to A Simple Favor will follow Stephanie (Kendrick) and Emily (Lively) and this time head to the island of Capri for Emily’s wedding to a wealthy Italian businessman. As you expect, murder and intrigue will surround the wedding.
