We’ve mentioned the cast for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. The cast has been building and building, in fact, I got a letter the other day about being in it. Which was nice.
At the time of writing this, the cast is Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Jon Bernthal, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, Mia Goth, Elliot Page, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Morton, John Leguizamo, Will Yun Lee, Benny Safdie, Bill Irwin, Corey Hawkins, Nick E. Tarabay and Hamesh Patel.
Nolan and Homer are credited with writing the movie. I’m guessing there will be a scene sped up, a suspicious dog and Mel Gibson’s bare ass. Wait, I just looked it up, it’s not that Homer. If he had a last name I wouldn’t have been confused.
An image is now online from The Odyssey of Damon, who is playing Odysseus. If you turn him upside-down, you can use him as a brush.
Obviously it’s not giving much away, but it does seem the custom design is good. The Odyssey will be Nolan’s thirteenth movie and is expected to be shot in IMAX. It’s obviously going to be a big sceptical.
Main production for The Odyssey is starting in 2025/6 in Sicily, England and Morocco. Homer’s original text is believed to reference a lot of the Sicilian islands, being close to where Homer was based.
The Odyssey is due out on the 17th of July 2026.
