It is fair to say that the reaction to Nosferatu was mixed. It hasn’t stopped Robert Eggers from returning to historical-set horrors for Werewulf.
While the plot is currently unknown, the clue is almost definitely in the title. The story will unfold in 13th-century England and is rumored to feature dialogue that is true to the time period. Ye Olde English! There will potentially be some subtitles. The mind boggles! The film was also originally planned to be shot in black and white, but this has now been changed.
Now, the first set photos have emerged from the production. The photos show Aaron Taylor-Johnson with long hair, unkempt, and covered in blood. This has led to speculation that it is a post-transformation scene.
Eggers has co-written the film with Sjón. They will produce with Tim Bevan, Garett Bird, and Eric Fellner. Eggers has said this is the “darkest thing” he’s ever created.
