Apple TV+ has premiered the official trailer for the ten-episode fourth season of its acclaimed alternate history space drama For All Mankind.
At the beginning of the space race, the Soviet Union was so far ahead of the USA that America would have been unable to catch up, if fate had not intervened.
Sergei Korolev was the father of the Soviet space program and the driving force behind it. In our reality, he died during an operation in Moscow in 1966. After he passed, their Moonshot program stalled.
If he hadn’t died, the Soviet Union would have likely beaten the USA to the Moon.
For All Mankind takes Korolev as the point of divergence. In the alternate reality presented by the show, he lives and the Soviet Union succeeds in the first crewed Moon landing.
In this reality, a gravely wounded NASA races to catch up in a space race that didn’t end as it did in our reality, with many nations driving forward into space, and racing for Mars.
This fourth season is eight years after the third season. It is now an alternate 2003 and Happy Valley has rapidly expanded its footprint on Mars by turning former foes into partners.
The space program meanwhile has turned to focus on the capture and mining of mineral-rich asteroids, and simmering tensions between the residents of the now-sprawling international base threaten to undo everything they are working towards.
A major discovery of a single rock containing more iridium than has ever been mined across Earth’s history will drive the plot this season.
The ensemble cast returning for season four includes Joel Kinnaman, Wrenn Schmidt, Krys Marshall, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, and Coral Peña along with new series regulars Toby Kebbell, Tyner Rushing, Daniel Stern, and Svetlana Efremova.
Ronald D. Moore, Ben Nedivi, and Matt Wolpert return as executive producers. The show will roll out weekly from November 10th.
