The Brendan Fraser renaissance will not be denied! The recently minted Oscar winner is now set to play Dwight D. Eisenhower in Pressure, according to a report in Deadline.
This is a Working Title and StudioCanal production set around the D-Day landings. It is a true story about Britain’s chief meteorological officer James Stagg during this crucial period. Ripley and Spectre star Andrew Scott will play Stagg.
Eisenhower was Supreme Allied Commander at the time, and the landings were to happen on his watch. Stagg’s role was to deliver what could potentially be the most consequential weather forecast in modern history, and one that could place him on a collision course with political and military leaders.
Pressure is based upon a play by Olivier Award winner David Haig and the screenplay has been written by Haig and Anthony Maras (Hotel Mumbai).
The original play was described as an intricate and well-crafted drama that addresses our emotions, beliefs, and personal judgments, along with the role of nature in our lives.
Pressure is due to start shooting in the UK in September.
