Frasier Main

FRASIER Revival Cancelled

Well… it seems some things really are best left in the past. The third season of the Frasier revival won’t be happening. Paramount+ has just pulled the plug. The second season only finished airing two months ago. CBS Studios is allowed to shop it around for a new home.

The revival featured the returning Kelsey Grammer alongside Jack Cutmore-Scott, Nicholas Lyndhurst, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salgueiro, and Anders Keith. Grammer says he will continue if they can find a new platform, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Frasier 1

The original Frasier network, NBC, may be a possibility.

The Frasier revival garnered three Emmy nominations for its first season despite more mixed reviews than the original, considered a classic sitcom.

The original, itself a spin-off from Cheers, ran for 11 seasons from September 16, 1993, to May 13, 2004. Frasier received critical acclaim and is widely regarded as one of the greatest TV series of all time. The series and the cast won 37 Primetime Emmy Awards, a record at the time for a scripted series. It also won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series for five consecutive years.

When the series ended in 2004, Grammer had portrayed the character of Frasier Crane for a total of 20 years, including his nine seasons on Cheers plus a one-time performance as the character on the series Wings, which earned Grammer an Emmy nomination. At the time, he tied James Arness’ portrayal of Matt Dillon on Gunsmoke for the longest-running character on American primetime television.
