It’s a big day for trailers, clearly! First Red One, then Thunderbolts, and now Gladiator II has revealed more.
The movie has started test screenings, and the results are very good. Scott himself said he is proud of what they have done this time.
Paul Mescal stars as the adult version of Lucius, the grandson of Rome’s former emperor Marcus Aurelius, nephew of Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) and son of Lucilla (Connie Nielsen). In this story Lucius lives peacefully with his family in Numidia until Roman soldiers invade and force him into slavery.
Inspired by Maximus, he decides to fight as a gladiator to take revenge on the General Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal) who captured him, and to oppose the rule of the current rulers of Rome.
The movie cost $300 million and co-stars Djimon Hounsou, Matt Lucas, Lior Raz, Peter Mensah, May Calamawy, Tim McInnerny, and Derek Jacobi.
Gladiator II opens on November 15th internationally, but US audiences must wait until November 22nd.
