Guy Ritchie returns to the world of Sherlock Holmes, only this time without Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law. Not to be confused with the Amblin movie from 1985, this version stars the excellently named Hero Fiennes Tiffin, of the Fiennes acting dynasty, as a 19-year-old Sherlock Holmes.
It is an Amazon production, and now Prime Video has released the teaser trailer for Young Sherlock.
The new series is “inspired by” Andy Lane’s novels and reimagines Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s famed detective during the 1870s and his time at Oxford University.
Here, Holmes is a disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed student who finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at the famous old university, which threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, he manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever and set him on a course to become the famous consulting detective.

The cast is filled out by Dónal Finn as James Moriarty, Zine Tseng as Princess Gulun Shou’an, Joseph Fiennes as Silas Holmes, Natascha McElhone as Cordelia Holmes, Max Irons as Mycroft Holmes, and Colin Firth as Sir Bucephalus Hodge.
Showrunner Matthew Parkhill writes and executive-produces the TV show. Other producers are Ritchie himself, Dhana Gilbert, Marc Resteghini, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, and Colin Wilson.
Ritchie directs several episodes. Young Sherlock will arrive on Prime Video on March 4th, with all eight episodes dropping together.
