The first season of HALO got mixed reviews. There was praise for the depictions of combat, and the creation of Cortana in the show. There were issues among fans of the game with deviations from the source material. Now the second season is coming to Paramount+ and at CCXP in Brazil there was a trailer and a release date announcement.
Cast members Pablo Schreiber and Joseph Morgan, along with showrunner David Wiener and executive producer Kiki Wolfkill were in attendance for the reveal.
The new season features the continuing fight of Master Chief John-117 and his team of elite Spartans against the alien threat known as the Covenant in the 26th century. Humanity’s best hope for winning the war is John-117s deep connection to a mysterious alien structure that holds the key to humankind’s salvation, or its destruction — the Halo. Can he unlock the secrets with the Covenant preparing to attack humanity’s greatest stronghold?
Returnees include Natascha McElhone as Dr. Halsey, Jen Taylor as Cortana, Fiona O’Shaughnessy as Laera, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, and Danny Sapani.
Joining the case is Joseph Morgan as James Ackerson, a formidable intelligence operative who has spent his career climbing the ranks of the UNSC’s secretive Office of Naval Intelligence. Cristina Rodlo joins as Talia Perez, a corporal specializing in linguistics for a UNSC Marine Corps communications unit and a recruit who has yet to see any combat.
I have never seen this show, and I have also never played a second of HALO the game so I am less likely to be annoyed by deviations from the source material. As the evenings draw in and prime couch camping and binge-watching season is upon us, should I check it out?
