After a teaser, and another teaser, comes the full trailer. Netflix just dropped the full trailer for Happy Gilmore 2. The sequel to arguably Sandler’s best comedy has taken 30 years to make it to the screen, and now I feel old again.
In Happy Gilmore, Sandler played a failed hockey player with anger management issues who finds unexpected success on the pro golf tour, and in the process falls in love while locking horns with his golfing nemesis. It didn’t make much of a splash in theaters, but on home rental it went absolutely stratospheric as word of mouth spread. It also featured a little person dressed as a cowboy riding a penny farthing.
Sandler returns alongside Julie Bowen as his love interest Virginia Venit, Ben Stiller as Hal, Allen Covert as Otto, Dennis Dugan as Doug Thompson, and Christopher McDonald as rival golfer Shooter McGavin.
New joiners are Nick Swardson, Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Kym Whitley, Margaret Qualley, Scott Mescudi, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Eminem, Becky Lynch, Dan Patrick, Travis Kelce, and John Daly, alongside cameos from the pro-circuit.
