Happy Gilmore is unbelievably 29 years old. What? How? Where did all those years go? Should I have done more with my life? Surely the cold embrace of the end can be only moments away?
The 1996 Adam Sandler-led movie can be described as something of a silly classic, discovered by many on DVD, or even VHS, and taken into our hearts because of great characters, endless quotability, and flat-out stupid fun.
Happy Gilmore followed a failed hockey player with anger management issues who suddenly discovers a talent for golf. Along the way he will find a mentor, a lover, new friends and new enemies as he works his way up the pro-tour.
Sandler returns for Happy Gilmore 2 alongside other returnees Julie Bowen as Virginia Venit, and Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin.
The cast will be built out by Nick Swardson, Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley, Scott Mescudi, Maxwell Jacob Friedman, Travis Kelce, and John Daly this time around.
Kyle Newacheck (Murder Mystery) directs from a script by Tim Herlihy, writer of the original film. Dennis Dugan, the first film’s director, executive produces with Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds
Happy Gilmore 2 will have an Easter 2025 release on Netflix.
