Voldemort

Has POTTER Found Voldemort?

Was Ralph Fiennes causing mischief, was he repeating an internet rumor, or has he really let slip the identity of the new actor who will play Lord Voldemort in the Harry Potter series for HBO?

One name has been linked before, and Fiennes was out doing press for 28 Days Later: The Bone Temple when he was asked about who should take over the role for the upcoming television version.

In a viral TikTok clip shared by Let’s Talk Film, he responded:

“I’m told they are already filled, aren’t they? I think Cillian Murphy is very good. A very good choice.”

He then seemed a little panicked that he had let something slip that he shouldn’t have, repeating:

“I’ve already said, I think Cillian Murphy is very good. I think they’ve cast it, haven’t they? You don’t know?”

He then turned to seemingly gain some reassurance from his own people that he hadn’t messed up with the reveal.

Peaky Blinders star and Oppenheimer Oscar winner Murphy has denied he is involved, but the rumors have persisted.

Voldemort

There is a lot of money behind the show, and Murphy has shown he doesn’t favor movies over TV, no matter how high his profile now.

Could a high profile villain role, with many seasons of guaranteed work turned his head? Buried beneath prosthetics and surrounded by VFX, is it different enough that it complements any other movie roles he may take at the same time?

Is this wishful fan thinking that Fiennes has picked up on? Or did Murphy let something slip to Fiennes on set?
