HBO Says No Long HARRY POTTER Breaks

Do you remember when your favourite TV show had a new season every year, regular as clockwork? 24 episodes, to push for syndication, came along every twelve months. You could set your watch by it. Then it all changed. Harry Potter is looking to change it back.

Waiting two years for a new season, like with Reacher, or House Of The Dragon, isn’t going to cut it in the world of speccy boy wizards. HBO boss Casey Bloys has confirmed they plan to work at speed. Writing on the second season has already started, and the pace will stay consistent.

These kids will be young adults by the time this is over.

With each season adapting one book, and each book covering one school year, the clockwork regularity is needed primarily for one reason – the kids and their ageing.

“I don’t know if it’s going to be like stop shooting Season 1 on Friday and start Season 2 on Monday – there will be a break in there. But we’re going to do whatever we can to not have a huge gap, for the kids, obviously, but also for viewers. We’re trying not to have massive gaps. It is a big show, lots of special effects, obviously, a massive operation. But we’re going to do what we can, for the kids’ ages, but for viewers as well.”

Dominic McLaughlin is Harry Potter, with Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley, and Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger.

The rest of the massive cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, and Gabriel Harland as George Weasley.

The report in Variety also confirms a 2027 arrival for season one.
