Why are most modern movie titles so long? I’m going to have to type out I Know What You Did Last Summer about 10 times now! Anyway, here is a trailer.
This reboot, reimagining, re-what-ever-it-is sees original cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. back. Joining them are Chase Sui Wonders, Madelyn Cline, Tryiq Withers, Billy Campbell and Nicholas Alexander Chavez. The story is:
A group of friends are terrorized by a stalker who knows about a gruesome incident from their past.
So, I Know What You Did Last Summer is just a remake? A reboot? A completely unoriginal piece of work from a studio with zero creativity? Am I being a bit harsh? Well, wait, because it gets worse.
Jennifer Kaytin Robinson is the writer and director. She wrote Thor: Love and Thunder and Do Revenge. If you haven’t seen Do Revenge, I would avoid it at all costs. It’s basically Mean Girls, but for the modern audience, including a lesbian main protagonist.
This ‘new’ version of I Know What You Did Last Summer is the fourth movie. I think I remember there being a second one, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. The third one, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, must have been straight to video. There was also a TV series, apparently.
I Know What You Did Last Summer will be in cinemas on the 18th of July…and I for one, can wait until it’s on streaming!
