Indie Movie: DEADCAST

I’ve been interacting with an indie movie on the socials, called Deadcast. And when I say ‘interacting’, I don’t just mean liking their photos, I mean actually chatting with them. This is not a Brad Pitt’s mother thing, I think.

They have been filming Deadcast for a while now and posting interesting behind-the-scenes footage and generally having fun. You can see their Instagram account HERE.

Deacast stars Ryan Wilson, Joshua Ford, Alice Lucy, Anne Hegerty, Lucy Litchfield, Olivia Black and Joseph Emms. Mark Zuczewski and Natalie Pailing are co-directing.

I first learned about Deadcast through Alice Lucy’s involvement. I follow her on Instagram after seeing her in Mad Heidi, a wildly entertaining film about a Swiss mountain girl kidnapped by the government. She has to defend herself against ‘a cheese-fueled machinery of hate’.

Deadcast looks a little more serious, as it’s a horror. The plot is:

Two best friends take their podcast on the road to explore Britain’s darkest supernatural tales. As myth and reality blur, their friendship and grip on truth are tested.

Press Release

The rest of the information is from a press release they were kind enough to send us.

Deadcast is a fiercely independent horror feature, born from a deep love of the genre and a drive to tell bold, original stories without waiting for permission. Shot entirely on location in Lincolnshire. The film is being made with limited resources but huge ambition, creative ingenuity, and a team with a proven track record in award-winning short films screened across the globe.

At the heart of the film are co-directors Mark Kuczewski and Natalie Pailing — true lovers of horror whose passion for the genre runs deep. Their shared obsession with atmospheric storytelling, practical effects, and the creeping dread of old-school horror has shaped every frame of Deadcast.

The film is also includes long-time collaborators Joshua Ford and Ryan Wilson, who not only star as the leads Seb and Zach — roles written specifically for them — but also serve as co-producers. Their ongoing partnership, built over years of working together across stage and screen, brings a natural chemistry and emotional depth that anchors the film’s central relationship.

An Indie Movie

Deadcast isn’t just a film — it’s a statement. It aims to give a voice to indie filmmakers everywhere by proving that you can create a feature that stands shoulder to shoulder with major releases. This is a horror film that is intrinsically British in its tone — packed with suspense, scares, and unsettling tension, but most importantly, heart. The team firmly believes it’s a story audiences will connect with and love.

Having already filmed over 75% of the movie. The team is now running a live crowdfund to complete the final stages of production, with a range of exciting perks available. The campaign is a chance for horror fans and indie film lovers to support a project made with genuine passion, creativity, and deep respect for the genre. Every contribution brings Deadcast one step closer to the screen — and to proving what independent cinema is truly capable of.

I said I would include a link to the Deadcast Crowndfund. Indie films like this gain traction with some interesting perks.
