Indie Trailer: DOLLY

According to movies, millions of people are put in a ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ situation every day. In that fine tradition, meet Dolly.

I’m going to say this, but I hate how they have outlets telling you, ‘This is the scariest movie you’ll ever see, ever!’ on trailers. It’s not going to be the scariest movie ever, it’s going to be ‘pretty good’, at best.

I digress, Dolly stars Fabianne Therese, Russ Tiller, Michalina Scorzelli, Kate Cobb, Ethan Suplee, and Sean William Scott. By the looks of the trailer, William Scott dies before the opening credits.

Rod Blackhurst is the writer and director. He wrote Night Swim, which I couldn’t even finish. I’m hoping that keeps my expectations low so Dolly might actually feel better written. The rest is from the press release.

DOLLY stars Fabianne Therese (John Dies At The End), Russ Tiller (Blood For Dust), Eve Blackhurst, Michalina Scorzelli, Kate Cobb (Okie), with Ethan Suplee (My Name Is Earl) and Seann William Scott (American Pie) and introducing Max The Impaler as the physically imposing eponymous antagonist.

The film’s first incarnation was the short film, Babygirl, and now the feature-length DOLLY is the hulking and brooding realised vision of Rod Blackhurst, serving as a tribute to the classic 70s slashers, whilst adding its own spin on the genre.

I have a screener of Dolly and will go in open-minded. The movie will be in UK cinemas on the 6th of March.
