Indie Trailer: SOMNIUM

Another indie trailer to feast your eyes on, called Somnium. It’s a creepy horror from a new writer/director, Rachael Cain.

That looks kind of cool, and I’m happy to give it a go. I have a screener, so a review is on the way. With something like this, I like to wait till it’s late at night, turn all the lights out and soak up the atmosphere.

Somnium stars Chloe Levine, Johnathon Schaech, Grace Van Dien, Gillian White, Draya Michele, Will Peltz, and Emily Mei. As I said, Cain is the writer and director. The story is:

At experimental sleep clinic, Somnium, dreams are made real. Side effects may include: hallucinations, confusion, paranoia, sleep paralysis, detachment from reality, lost sense of self, permanent nightmares.

Press Release

Los Angeles, CA – Yellow Veil Pictures has announced the official release of Racheal Cain’s debut feature Somnium. Yellow Veil will bring the acclaimed horror science fiction indie to select theatres starting August 28, followed by a bow on major streaming platforms September 9. The film premiered at the 2024 Chattanooga Film Festival, where it took home the Audience Award, and went on to take the Silver Audience Award Prize at the Brooklyn Horror Film Festival. Lead actress Chloë Levine took home the Best Actress Award at FilmQuest.

The acclaimed indie film, which has earned rave reviews since Chattanooga, marks the feature directorial debut of writer/director Racheal Cain. The road to release began in 2011, when Cain first began writing the script, but the project gained traction in 2018 with a successful crowdfunding campaign launched on social media. Production occurred in two phases, with all of the film’s flashbacks scenes shot in 2018 and its present-day scenes in 2021 and 2022, four years later.

The cast is led by Chloë Levine (The Sacrifice Game, “The OA”). Levine is joined in the hellish dreamscape by Peter Vack (“Mozart in the Jungle”), Will Peltz (Unfriended), Johnathon Schaech (Suitable Flesh, “Blue Ridge: The Series”) and Grace Van Dien (“Stranger Things”, Redux Redux).
